Ba Lishtot
a Hebrew knowledge site for every drink
balishtot.co.il
A Hebrew reference site on wine, beer, whisky, spirits, liqueurs, cocktails, coffee and tea, where every fact rests on a source that was actually read.
599 fact checked pages, open to Google

The challenge
There was no serious Hebrew knowledge site on drinks. The big searches in the space belong to retailers, and there is no official Israeli dataset to lean on. The audience is exactly the crowd that will spot a mistake: people who love their drinks. The bar I set was that not one of them finds a single error.
What I did
- Designed an architecture of departments and entity pages: every grape, style, drink and country gets its own page, plus comparisons and food pairings.
- Made every page pass a fact check against its sources before it publishes. A page that fails stays off the site.
- Pulled source names out of the body text into a collapsed list at the bottom of each page, so the writing stays light for a young audience reading on a phone, without giving up the sources.
- Built five calculators: standard drinks, alcohol dilution, batched cocktails, drinks for a party, and coffee to water ratio.
- Made the whole site adults only, with an age gate that doesn't block Google from crawling, and trust pages: editorial policy, corrections, advertising policy, responsible drinking and accessibility.
The decision that made the difference
A source that was read, or the page doesn't get written. Three well known recipes stayed off the site because no reliable source was found for them, and a food blog wasn't accepted as a recipe source. An Israeli standard I couldn't get access to wasn't guessed at either: the pages say the standard exists and don't pretend to know what it says. A knowledge site that guesses once loses every reader who catches it.
What came out of it
- 599 pages live as of October 28, 2026.
- The site moved to its permanent domain and opened to Google on November 5, 2026.
